When I first started in real estate, I was working as a rental agent exclusively in the Financial District. At that time, FIDI still carried the stigma of a “ghost town after 6:00 p.m.” and very few people wanted to live down here. I was so enthused I moved down here myself and spent five years living in FIDI. I have witnessed the transformation and rebirth of this vibrant neighborhood into a 24/7 residential destination. The area now bustles with a dynamic and eclectic mix of people from all walks of life. Also, it’s extremely exciting for me to see all of the projects we have been following for the past ten years come to fruition. From the Freedom Tower site to the Fulton Transportation hub, 2014 should be a year filled with exciting openings and new developments.
The Financial District (FIDI) has always been a special place to me and Platinum Properties.
Daniel’s Neighborhood Picks:
52 Stone St
This quaint, cobblestone street is taken straight out of Europe! It is littered
with bars, great dining, and live music. During the summertime they put
tables and chairs outside and there is no traffic allowed.
14 Wall St #3
One of the oldest barber shops in FIDI, Esquires of Wall Street is a classic old
time barber shop. Designed with mahogany and marble, it epitomizes the flavor
of Wall Street.
2 Fulton St
Located in the South Street Seaport, this playground for children encourages
children to use their imagination to play!
1 Hanover Square
One of my favorite restaurants in FIDI – it’s a great mix of American food and
steakhouse. Get the French onion soup and the hangar steak, you can’t go
wrong. It’s also a great spot for brunch with unlimited champagne.
121 Fulton St
Great sports bar for fans looking for a place to watch the games on Sundays.
More than just a typical sports bar, The Fulton incorporates a gourmet twist into
your classic bar food.
