What’s your real estate prediction for 2015?
There is still a lot of uncertainly in today’s economy. However, the real estate market, even after a rough few years, will continue to be an important part of our nation’s economic recovery. It’s amazing to see the transformation that has occurred over the past decade here in New York. Several neighborhoods have been revitalized by newcomers looking to live, work and play in New York, bringing with them new restaurants and shops, and what is occurring in parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn will undoubtedly spread across other areas of the city.
Which area of the city is most in need of infrastructure improvements?
Every corner of this city is constantly changing and being revitalized. It’s the city’s connective tissue, the transportation systems that are in need of a huge investment—without which commerce will be majorly impacted. Our bridges, subways, and roads are ancient, and rapidly deteriorating.
What are some of the biggest trends in the market right now?
I think apps and listing sites will become standard for smaller deals, but nothing can replace the knowledge and security that comes with working with a well-connected, intelligent agent. There is always something to be said for personalized service and brokers are no exception, especially at Trump International Realty. Buying property is such an important transaction and it’s crucial to have a complete understanding of the market and the agreement you’re entering into.
What is your favorite NYC neighborhood?
I will always love midtown east. It’s where I work, it’s where I live and I’m still discovering new places to shop, eat and explore. Some of the best museums and Central Park are practically at your doorstep. There is incredible dining and easy access to great entertainment just a few blocks away. Recently I’ve also really enjoyed spending time in Brooklyn. There are some amazing real estate developments underway and some really beautiful neighborhoods where we visit friends.
In addition to deals, you have a great eye for design. Describe your style.
I have a very specific aesthetic: I’m highly influenced by Parisian architectural elements like ceiling details and moldings, which I like to accent with contemporary furniture that has a modern opulence. I gravitate towards brass details, rich fabrics like mohair and velvet and a neutral color pallet.
